Crawler excavator vs. wheeled excavator
Crawler side: Lower ground pressure (kPa), better stability on soft fills, and stronger support for deep digging depth / breakout force cycles — the majority of abrasive quarry and highway cuts.
Wheeled side: Road travel without a lowboy, lower transfer cost on urban pads, and faster multi-site days when flotation is not the constraint.
Hensley boundary: We quote track groups only when the excavator operating weight class stays on crawlers. Wheeled fleets get a written “out of scope” note rather than a forced shoe-width recommendation.
